Shawanda Erby Joins Rock Hill Housing Staff

ROCK HILL, SC --- Shawanda Erby recently joined the staff of Rock Hill Housing serving as Jobs Plus Program Director. 

Ms. Erby will establish and maintain Jobs Plus Program partnerships with community partners to coordinate services and referrals in this role. Also, she will plan, develop, and implement the marketing plan to recruit and retain participation.

Erby is originally from Rock Hill.  She holds a Bachelor's and Master's in Social Work from Winthrop University and an Associates in Business Administration from Clinton College. Additionally, Erby is a Licensed Social Worker in South Carolina and a certified Human Services Case Manager.

With five years of experience, Erby brings their Social Work expertise to the agency. Prior to obtaining this position with Rock Hill Housing,  Erby served as Program Coordinator for the Rock Hill Housing Authority. In this role, Erby recruited and retained program participation. Also, Erby assessed the needs of program participants by conducting intakes, assessments, and case management services. Erby also previously served as the Social Worker for York County DSS. In this role, Erby investigated alleged abuse, neglect, and abandonment of children to determine if abuse or unsafe conditions exist ad take appropriate action to ensure children's safety following state-mandated timeframes.

Erby received additional training in Substance Abuse from Keystone Substance Abuse. Erby has continued their education through Continuing Education Training with the SC Board of Social Work.

Erby is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the National Association of Black Social Workers.

Erby has four sons. During their free time, Erby enjoys hosting community events and reading.

Since 1965, Rock Hill Housing has provided housing assistance for families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities in the cities of Rock Hill and Great Falls. Rock Hill Housing has 369 public housing units and manages 140 Housing Choice Vouchers (HCV), previously Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers, for area landlords.
