Jobs Plus is Coming!

Dear Residents:

Get Ready! Get Ready!  Get Ready!  Jobs Plus is coming!!

I wanted to share with YOU what I believe is really good news about the season of opportunity that is approaching for (YOU) our Public Housing residents.  The Rock Hill Housing Authority recently was awarded a $2.3 million dollar Jobs Plus Program Grant.  This grant is intentional and so are we about helping YOU access the resources and services YOU may need to assist YOU in your journey towards self-sufficiency.

Jobs Plus is designed to provide (YOU) our Public Housing residents with a variety of resources and services.  Jobs Plus provides YOU with the opportunity to communicate one-on-one with a Career Coach.  YOU and your Career Coach, together, will develop a "customized" plan that will assist YOU in your quest for securing a livable wage and your journey toward the achievement of self-sufficiency.

Jobs Plus has a financial/rent incentive built-in with YOU in mind. This financial/rent incentive will neutralize any rent increase due to your rising earned income. Imagine that, the Housing Authority will not increase your rent because YOU get employed or receive an increase at your current employer. This is a significant benefit.  In order to take advantage of this benefit, YOU must become a Jobs Plus Program participant who signs up for (enroll in) the Jobs Plus Earned Income Disregard (JPEID).  Once YOU sign up for JPEID, your increased earnings from your rising earned income belongs to YOU!   This benefit is available to YOU for a maximum of up to 48 months or upon expiration of the Jobs Plus Program Grant, whichever occurs first. I believe that is a game-changer for YOU!

In conclusion, I believe that the Jobs Plus Program has something for everyone living in public housing.  Whether YOU desire to start your own business, become employed, achieve a promotion at your current employer, become a first-time homebuyer, obtain your high school diploma, attend a 2 year or 4-year college, Jobs Plus can assist.   These are just a few of the resources and services that are available to YOU through the Jobs Plus program.  In the interim, I would encourage YOU to sign up for news and updates at our website, www.rhha.org, and to contact Shawanda Erby, Jobs Plus Program Service Coordinator/Program Manager at (803) 909-8945 for more information.

Sincerely,

Dewayne Alford
