RHHA Awarded Federal Grant to Support Residents' Path to Self-Sufficiency

RHHA is One of Only Three South Carolina Organizations to Receive HUD's FY25 ROSS Grant Award!

ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Rock Hill Housing Authority (RHHA) has been selected by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to receive a Resident Opportunity and Self-Sufficiency - Service Coordinator (ROSS-SC) grant award under the agency's Fiscal Year 2025 funding cycle. RHHA is among 114 organizations nationwide and one of only three agencies in South Carolina to be awarded this competitive federal grant.

The ROSS grant, totaling $272,250, will fund one service coordinator position for a three-year period beginning June 1, 2026, through May 31, 2029. Service coordinators work directly within public housing communities to connect residents with resources and support services that help them achieve economic independence and long-term self-sufficiency.

"This grant is a tremendous asset for our residents and for the Rock Hill community," said Dewayne Alford, Executive Director of the Rock Hill Housing Authority. "Having a dedicated service coordinator means our residents will have a knowledgeable partner to help them navigate available resources, set goals, and take meaningful steps toward financial stability and independence."

HUD's ROSS program places service coordinators directly in communities to support public housing residents, Tribal and Tribally Designated Housing Entity (TDHE) communities, multifamily housing residents, seniors, and people with disabilities. Nationwide, HUD awarded $35.1 million in FY25 ROSS funding to 114 organizations, funding 138 service coordinator positions.

South Carolina's three recipient agencies - the Housing Authority of Cheraw, the Rock Hill Housing Authority, and Southeastern Housing and Community Development - were among a competitive pool of applicants evaluated on their capacity to deliver meaningful self-sufficiency services to residents in need.

The Rock Hill Housing Authority is committed to providing safe, stable, and affordable housing while empowering residents with the tools and connections they need to thrive.
