Rock Hill Housing Authority - The Scoop

Combustibles Notice

The Rock Hill Housing Authority values the safety of our tenants. We have noticed an increase in residents storing items on and around the water heaters. Please understand that the water heaters are considered a combustible item. Should the water heater explode, any items stored on it or around it could become a projectile and seriously injure or kill someone. In addition to that, storing items on or around combustibles can result in a failed inspection for safety reasons. The Department of Housing & Urban Development grades housing authorities on this item, which could lead to a decrease in funding should such a funding result in a failed inspection. This notice serves as a friendly reminder to avoid storing any items on or around your water heater. If you currently have any items stored on or near your water heater, please remove them immediately and place them in a safe location away from the water heater. We appreciate your attention to this matter.

Renters Insurance

The Rock Hill Housing Authority (RHHA) is happy to have you as a resident, and we hope that you enjoy your time with us. During the term of your tenancy, we understand that there may be some unfortunate circumstances that could result in some type of property damage or loss. The Rock Hill Housing Authority is not responsible for damages that are not directly caused by use. Although it is not required, we highly encourage you to consider getting renters' insurance because renters' insurance covers the damages that we do not. Renters insurance can be purchased for as little as $10/month. Below is a chart that provides examples of what some renters insurance (RI) often covers, but you will need to review specific coverages with your insurance company.

Fire/smoke damage to personal belongings like furniture & clothing, etc. No Yes

If you wish to get renters insurance, please see the following page for a list of companies that offer this option. This is not a complete list, so please feel free to research other companies should you prefer one that is not listed. If you currently have auto insurance, you may also want to consider adding renters insurance with the same company as some companies may offer lower rates for bundling auto and renters insurance.
