"What Home Means to Me" Poster Contest

"What Home Means to Me" National Poster Contest

Deadline for submission to Rock Hill Housing Authority: May 3rd  

Poster Size:  22" x 28"

Contest participation is open to all children who live in Affordable Housing (Public Housing or Section 8). Submission must be created by only one person.

Age Categories: Elementary (K - 5th Grade), Middle (6th - 8th Grade), and High School (9th-12th Grade)

All entries must meet all contest rules, be accompanied by a completed application, and include a short narrative explaining "What Home Means to Me."

The Housing Authority of the City of Rock Hill will provide a poster board, crayons, markers, or paint to any child who wants to enter the contest. Please contact your Public Housing or Section 8 Manager if your child needs art supplies for their poster.  We will also award a $25.00 gift certificate for the best drawing and narrative in each category.  Winners will be selected by a panel of judges.

The Housing Authority of the City of Rock Hill will submit our winning entries to the Regional NAHRO (National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Organization) chapter who will then select and submit three (3) winning entries to NAHRO's National headquarters in Washington, D.C.

At the national competition, there will be twelve (12) national winners selected and each will be receive a $100 Visa gift card. A national grand prize winner will also be selected and will receive an IPad. The grand prize winner and one member of their family will also be provided with transportation to and from and lodging at NAHRO's Washington Conference in Washington, D.C. where they will be honored. The grand prize winner will also receive a framed copy of their original artwork and will tour Capitol Hill.

Parents encourage your kids to grab their paint, markers, and crayons.  And get ready, set, draw!!
