Sharon Coleman Joins Rock Hill Housing Staff

ROCK HILL, SC --- Sharon Coleman recently joined the staff of Rock Hill Housing serving as the Grants and Compliance Specialist. In this role, Coleman will research and identify grant funding opportunities and grant funding needs and research and develop grant-funding sources from federal, state, private, and other sources. Coleman will serve as internal liaison to program staff in their roles as they relate to program and grant compliance in the areas of Low-Income Public Housing, Housing Choice Vouchers, Public Housing Capital Fund, Multifamily, and other Federal, state, and local programs. Coleman will be responsible for reviewing data necessary to ascertain that the organization is complying with internal and external rules, regulations, and laws.

Coleman is a lifelong native of Lancaster, South Carolina. Coleman holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and an M.S. in Psychology from the University of Phoenix.

With over 20 years of experience, Coleman brings her affordable housing expertise to the agency. Prior to joining Rock Hill Housing, Coleman served as the Property Manager for PK Management for over two years. While in this role, she was responsible for the management of a sixty-eight-unit Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) property. In addition, Coleman has served as an Assistant Property Manager for Inlivian (formerly Charlotte Housing Authority). In this role, Coleman assisted in the management of 204 Project-Based Voucher Units, Market Units, Low-Income Tax Credits, and Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS). Coleman also serves as the Direct Care Worker for Lancaster Children's Home. In this role, Coleman guides troubled teens with workshops focusing on professionalism, financial literacy, and goal setting. Coleman served as the Public Housing Resident Coordinator with the Housing Authority of Lancaster (SC), where she was responsible for resident assessments, development of case management plans, and a variety of other responsibilities during her eighteen-plus years with the agency.

Coleman has three children Devern, Malachi, and Randy. During her free time, Coleman enjoys listening to music and spending time with her children.

Since 1965, Rock Hill Housing has provided housing assistance for families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities in the cities of Rock Hill and Great Falls. Rock Hill Housing has 369 public housing units and manages 608 Housing Choice Vouchers (HCV), previously Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers, for area landlords.
